As we celebrate National Nursing Week from May 9-15, 2022, we wanted to share some words of encouragement and gratitude Monique Patterson, VP of Nursing at St. Patrick’s Home sent to the nursing staff. In it, she wrote:
“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all the nursing staff that we celebrate this week! The past two years have demonstrated the resilience you encompass within your day-to-day work – I am amazed by the compassion I see staff have for the residents and their families.
As we embark on this new normal, we will remember what we all have been through, and I hope you all are able to cope and de-stress yourselves after work. Self-compassion is caring for yourself and doing something that interests you, something that helps you reflect and that calms you – my wish is that you all will give yourself some self-compassion. Remember to appreciate one another, be kind to each other, thank each other for being great team members, and celebrate each other.
To end this thank you, I would like to share the 7 Grandfather’s teachings from my Indigenous Culture. Seven Grandfather Teachings Wisdom, love, respect, bravery, honesty, humility, and truth – these teachings align with the Mission Vision and Values of St. Patrick’s Home but are a way of life for the indigenous people. Please accept these teachings as a special gift to each and every one of you.”
